Great media, conversation, DeepDebate and Contribune: Join DC Media Makers at NPR 6/24th in DC

Greetings Fine Media Makers,

Join DC Media Makers’ next meetup (at National Public Radio!)
Wed, June 24, 6:30PM-8:00PM

To RSVP:
Just sign up via this Socializr’s link: http://www.socializr.com/event/188910062

NPR and our JUNE meetup:
Big thanks to guru media maker at National Public Radio – Andy Carvin – for hosting us.

DC Media Makers and you:
When it comes to making media, DC Media Makers’ preferred MO is “have fun, learn, create, share, repeat.”

So are you passionately interested in all things digital education i.e. online video, podcasts, mobile blogging, screencasting, and more?

If so – don’t walk but RUN to join in.

No matter what your level of experience with digital tech or media, there’s a place for you here. Share a favorite online video clip from your personal or professional portfolio or a new editing software or other production tips or a new project idea.

Bottom line:
DC Media Makers is the ‘big tent’ for peer learning and promoting digital literacy in DC.

Presenters for our next meetup (…they’re great!):

1.) Lucas Cioffi with http://www.DeepDebate.org

Passionate about ideas, Lucas and team are exploring new ways to improve online conversations. In order to do this, they’ve built a framework which makes it easier for a very large number of people to create a structured conversation.

2.) Adam Bonnifield with http://www.Contribune.org

Contribune enables users to post all kinds of content — including news items, videos, and journal entries. Then it lets you aggregate and filter the stories that motivate people most, based on which stories actually lead people to donate, sign petitions, volunteer or complete other custom conversion activities.

3.) Speaker pending (hopefully to be announced soon!)

Remember:

To present at meetups – (casual style, we’re not anal) – please comment below or contact Jill Foster directly to share your professional or personal digital tech project (and the tools you’re using too!) with the group.

Who, What, Why:
-It’s media mashup time.

-This meetup, you are the media teachers and enthusiasts.

-So join us for a media making mashup where the #1 goal
is to share enthusiasm and teach, learn, and teach some more
your favorite media tools (…and have a blast).

-The primary, passionate mission of DCMM is to learn & practice
media literacy, certainly with video at the core of our suite of interests.
There’s Qik, Utterz, live web casts, & more for online video and interactive media.

-So what’s your favorite tool and why? And would you show us how to use it?!

-Bring laptops & anything in your techi trunk you want to share.

-It’s mashup time…are you ready?!

But I just want to observe & mind meld…
Great! Join us, watch, learn, or observe over shoulders.
